Norway is a uniquely beautiful country, and holidays there lend themselves to excellent sightseeing. Whether it’s a holiday spent hiking in Norway you’re after, a cruise trip or even a skiing holiday, the experience is sure to be memorable.

Walking in Norway will afford some spectacular sightseeing, with a unique environment making for beautiful scenery. Glaciers and dramatic fjords await you on Norway walking holidays, with icy landscapers being distinctly beautiful.

Whether you choose to walk, cruise or ski, being active is the best way to explore the snow-capped Norwegian mountains. And with the weather being a little chilly, you’ll want to keep busy to keep warm when enjoying the scenery.

Walking in Norway

Beginning in the bustling little seaside town of Bergen, you will experience some of the best scenery in the world when hiking in Norway. And for the first part of your holiday, you can have this quaint fishing town to return to each night. Bergen is a busy port, and you can sit and watch the ships come and go if you want to relax after a day out walking.

The next part of this Norway walk can take you to Voss, a pretty and small town affording beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and lake. Hiking in the Norway mountains here will be superb, and you can also enjoy the spectacular scenery when you take a train trip to your next destination – along one of the steepest mountainsides!

The third destination covered on this Norway walking holiday is Dragsvik, a small hamlet providing an excellent base for exploring Sognefjord.

Cruising and Hiking Norway’s Fjords

One of the best ways to view Norway is to go cruising and walking in Norway’s fjordlands. May and June prove to be the best months to go on such a holiday, where Norway is warmers, and covered in fruit blossoms. In Bergen, you can cable car up Mount Floyen, where spectacular views and Norway hiking trails await you.

Hiking in Norway promises some exceptional views. For example, in Olden, you can make your way to a viewpoint which overlooks four magnificent fjords, a sight which you will not see anywhere else in the world. Another breathtaking view when walking in Norway is the Voringfossen Waterfall, which you can add into your itinerary when stopping at Eidfjord.

Norwegian Delights: A Skiing Holiday

If hiking in Norway doesn’t sound like your ideal holiday to the country, skiing can afford you some excellent opportunities to see some exquisite scenery too. One of the best places to stay is at the Rondane Spa Hotel. 125 miles of ski area surround you, where gentle slopes with superb quality snow make for excellent skiing.

The famous Troll Trail is available to you too, where you can practise your long distance skiing. The snowy white scenery is beautiful, where frozen lakes and trees covered in thick snow form a picturesque setting. And after an active day outdoors, you can return to the hotel for a dip in the heated pool, a welcome bit of heat after a day out in the snow. Candlelit yoga and spa treatments can help you unwind and calm your mind, while in the day you can have enormous amounts of fun skiing through the white countryside.
